As part of this semester’s International Education Week celebrations, the Office of International Education invites the Maverick community to submit a photograph entry to be displayed at the University Center’s gallery during the week of Nov. 13-17. The show, See the Unseen, focuses on showcasing the often-overlooked elements of culture and community that shape the world.

Mavericks may submit one photo per category for any of the following categories. Additionally, student entries will be considered for first and second place prizes in each category. Only students are eligible to receive prizes; however, all contenders may be featured in the gallery show.

• Intercultural Immersion: Captures moments where Mavericks are immersed in the culture of their host country (U.S. or abroad). Photos might showcase students engaging in everyday activities that reflect unique aspects of the host country's culture, or participating in local traditions. Photos may also capture a moment or scene which creates a culturally immersive or reflective experience for the viewer. 
• Landscapes & Culture: Participants can submit photographs of landscapes, environments, iconic landmarks, scenic vistas, or natural wonders that play a significant role in shaping the host culture. 
• Cultural Crossings: Photos that capture the interactions and connections between people from different cultures or photos that illustrate the ways that cross-cultural trade and culture exchange impacts daily life in the host culture. 

Mavericks of any and all U.S. or international experiences are welcome to participate. Photos that capture family visits, study abroad experiences, volunteer work, or sight-seeing in another country are equally welcome.

Submissions will be accepted through Tuesday, Oct. 31, and contenders will be displayed in a UC Gallery Show during International Education Week, Nov. 13-17.
