In August 2022, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy released a memo tasking all federal grantmaking agencies with developing policies to “ensure free, immediate, and equitable access to federally funded research.” The deadline for policy plans is December 31, 2024, with policies expected to go into effect no later than December 31, 2025. What will this mean for researchers seeking federal funding over the next few years? This session will discuss the content of the memo, what we know so far about specific agencies' plans, and how the UTA Libraries can assist with open access publishing through the MavMatrix institutional repository. This session is presented in collaboration with the Office of Grant and Contract Services.
