About this Event
702 Planetarium Pl., Arlington, TX
Come to a showing of the silent film The Daughter of Dawn. An 80-minute, six-reel film shot in May, June, and July of 1920 in the Wichita Mountains of southwest Oklahoma. After screening only a handful of times when it was made in 1920, The Daughter of Dawn disappeared without a trace. For almost 90 years it was considered lost—until it was rediscovered by the Oklahoma Historical Society. It is the only silent film ever made with an entirely Native American cast and was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
Seats open at 5:30 p.m. Film starts at 6 p.m. Discussion will take place after the film.
Popcorn, snacks and drinks will be provided. Register on Mavorgs to be entered into a special raffle.
