"How the Murder of a 12 year Old Boy by Dallas Police Fueled the Fight for Justice with Rene Martinez"
Santos Rodriguez and his 13 year old brother David were pulled from their home on July 24, 1973 by two Dallas police officers. They were accused of stealing $8 from a vending machine. Santos was forced to play russian roulette in the back of the police car to force him to confess. Santos pulled the trigger a second time and the gun fired killing Santos were he fell onto his brother in the back seat of the car.
Rene Martinez, a 15 year president of the LULAC Dallas Branch and a lifetime advocate for justice and racial equality recalls this moment as a 20 something year old in Dallas and how it sprung him to action and take on a lifetime of activism.

It was informative and I appreciated the opportunity to learn about some of the racial history of Dallas as it relates to the Hispanic community.
