Food for Fines
For the past few months, the Libraries have been collaborating with the Follett Student Leadership Center in support of the UTA Food Pantry Program (https://www.facebook.com/UTAFoodPantry/). The Food Pantry is located on the lower level of the University Center and is available to help students who experience regular food insecurity. The Leadership Center has already had several Stock the Pantry events across campus, and this past week the Libraries started our contribution to this initiative by sponsoring a Food for Fines Stock the Pantry event, running now through April 2. Students, staff, and faculty can donate pantry items and receive one dollar in fine forgiveness for every item donated (up to 20 items). The fines are for currently outstanding fines, not previously paid or future fines.
What if you don’t have any fines??? All are welcomed and encouraged to donate to this very worthwhile endeavor. The more food collected, the better!
The donation boxes are located at the service points at the Central, Architecture & Fine Arts, and Science & Engineering Libraries. Donate at a service desk if you want fine forgiveness.
The most needed items are: Canned meats, nonperishable milk, nonperishable fruit juices, rice, cereal, and snack foods.
If you have any questions, please contact Margaret Samson.
