Evening of Black Excellence: Achievements and Graduation

An Evening of Black Excellence: Achievements and Graduation is a pre-commencement celebration of African and African American students, as well as students of various racial and ethnic backgrounds who minor in African American Studies or participate in programs offered by the Center for African American Studies. Most of the students to be recognized have successfully completed an undergraduate or graduate degree from UT Arlington. Others will hopefully do so in the near future, but will be honored for their merits to this point in the collegiate careers.

The Ceremony is representative of African and African American culture and heritage, embraces the value of community and scholarship, and culminates with a Kente Stole presentation. It is a celebration of excellence and accomplishment across various aspects of University life, and grants an opportunity to recognize significant people who helped our honorees reach their goals.

Participation in an Evening of Black Excellence: Achievements and Graduation is open to all UT Arlington undergraduate and graduate students who earned their degree during the Fall ’17, Winter ’17, Spring ’18, or Summer ’18 semesters.

Graduates and Honorees must purchase their tickets by Friday, April 6th, 2018 at in order to be listed in the program. The $35 ticket includes the Kente Cloth Stole for graduates, their guests, and food. Family members can attend for free but must register their vehicles though the link below.
