View map Free EventJoin this special public talk by John Mather, senior astrophysicist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics. Dr. Mather is a former senior project scientist for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) at Goddard. His research focuses on infrared astronomy and cosmology. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics (2006) with George Smoot for their work using the COBE satellite for precision measurements of fluctuations in the cosmic microwave background radiation from the Big Bang. His talk will show how JWST was built, why we study infrared, and the most exciting current discoveries being made by the JWST.
