About this Event
700 Greek Row Dr., Arlington, TX
https://www.mecha.pro/nosotres/zerpaScreenwriter, creative producer, director and street artist Carlos Zerpa from Caracas, Venezuela will present a talk for students working in animation, focused on workflow, techniques, and general advice. In his practice, Zerpa is drawn to survivor-type characters who embark on high risk adventures to transform social conditions they refuse to comply with. In 2010, Zerpa co-founded the cooperative ECL-MECHA (www.mecha.pro) whose creative practice emerges at the intersection of storytelling, visual arts, and social commitment in South America and the Caribbean. MECHA’s work seeks to empower underrepresented characters by creating transgressive and irreverent narrative devices. MECHA produced several award-winning public arts, editorial, and animation projects.
This event is organized in partnership with Corsicana Artist & Writer Residency where Carlos Zerpa is currently an artist-in-residence.
