Gender and Sexuality Alliance
First Meeting of the semester.
What Do We Believe?
The mission of the Gender and Sexuality Alliance is to promote equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender students and their allies as well as educating the campus about the LGBTQA community. We strive to support LGBTQA students and allies as they develop academically, professionally, socially, and personally. We also aim to foster a campus of inclusion, affirmation, equality, and respect for LGBTQA students, faculty, staff, and administrators
How Do I Join?
Joining is easy; simply come to a meeting and introduce your-self! We ask that all members participate in our movements. We have weekly meetings on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12-2pm. Our Wednesday meetings this fall semester will be held in The Commons building, Room Frio, on the second floor. The building is right next to the MAC. There is also a $10.00 membership fee per long semester, but you do not need to pay to attend meetings but to participate actively and be able to vote in elections and other organization decisions you need to be a paid member.
We have an open door policy meaning that all Mavericks with an open mind and an open heart are welcome in our organization.
What Do We Do?
We participate in campus activities such as Oozeball, Bed Races and Homecoming Parade. We also take part in LGBTQA events such as Dallas/Fort Worth Pride, GLSEN’s Day of Silence, GLSEN’s Ally Week and Transgender Day of Remembrance. We also have various GSA socials, work with the LGBTQA program and other campus organizations, participate in volunteer events and have group outings.
Our Goal is to educate the UT Arlington community and have fun while doing it!
